How secure are your storage facilities?

Both facilities have security fencing and cameras. Our Waihi facility also has a manager living on-site making this one of the safest storage facilities around.

When can I have access?

At our Waihi facility, our on-site manager opens the gates at 7am and closes them again at 8pm. Outside of these hours, you can arrange access to your unit by giving us a call. Our Mount Maunganui facility is accessible 24/7 as you will be given the code to the gate lock.

Do I need to provide my own padlock?

Yes. You are in charge of securing your own unit with your personal padlock. No keys are held on-site.

Is there a minimum term?

The minimum rental period is 14 days, and we require 14 days notice for terms to end. Otherwise you can rent self storage space with us for as long as you wish.

How do I pay?

Payments are made weekly by automatic payment. We don't need a bond but we do take payment one week in advance which means you don't pay during your final week

Do you have a free trailer available?

Yes we have a small cage trailer that you are welcome to use to help you move as long as its available.

What is it not ok to store in my unit?

Do Not store animals, animal products or perishable foodstuffs

Do Not store flammable or combustible materials for obvious reasons

Do Not store illegal or stolen items, unsecured firearms, precious metals or jewelry

Is my stuff insured whilst in storage?

Storage Base has building and public liability insurance but we do not cover your property or vehicles. The goods in storage are yours and we advise you to speak with your current insurer to confirm that they are insured whilst in storage. Different companies have different policies on this

How do you ensure nothing gets damp whilst in storage?

All our units and containers are watertight to ensure that the items you are storing do now get wet or damp. It is important that any potentially “wet” items, such as washing machines, fridges, freezers and vehicles are clean and fully dry before being stored. Empty all water out of your appliances, clean appliances with bicarbonate of soda and wipe dry. Then tape doors closed leaving a wedge in the door to allow air in
